In GTA 6, the Decisions You Make Will Affect Your Character’s Body

Rockstar is designing Jason and Lucia in GTA 6 not as blank avatars, but as characters that change along with the player. One of the most prominent aspects of this approach will be the physical transformation system. From eating habits to exercise, and even prolonged chases, many things can leave visible marks on the characters’ bodies.

GTA 6 Characters Will Change According to the Player’s Lifestyle

Rob Nelson, Rockstar North’s head of development and co-studio director, says players will experience a “shared journey” with Jason and Lucia. Accordingly, the characters’ appearance will not be independent of the choices you make. For example, frequent and excessive eating can lead to weight gain, while regular exercise can lead to more noticeable muscle development.

This system isn’t entirely new to the GTA series. In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, CJ’s diet and exercise changed his weight and muscle mass. GTA 6, however, is preparing to take this idea to a much more detailed and realistic level.

It’s not just weight and muscle changes that are interesting. It’s stated that intense physical situations, such as prolonged evasion of the police, will also affect the characters’ appearance. So, it will be possible to see the effects of running for hours, constantly engaging in firefights, or being under stress on the bodies and faces of Jason and Lucia.

Rockstar’s aim is to give the player more freedom while making them feel the consequences, however small, of that freedom. When the characters’ physical condition, relationships, and reactions to their environment are combined, the world of GTA 6 can become more personal. Moreover, these announcements come just before the official Extended Look reveal, which will be released on August 27th. Despite the large number of leaks in recent weeks, it seems Rockstar still has quite a few details about the character systems under wraps.
