Gamescom 2026 was Packed with AI Announcements
A total of 55 games were shown at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, and at least 13 of them were found to use artificial intelligence in their development, voice acting, marketing, or in-game systems. This accounts for approximately 23.64% of the games shown. For those who want to take a look at all the games, trailers, and release dates shown at the event, you can find the entire night in one place in our article Gamescom 2026: All Announcements.
Games Using AI at Gamescom 2026
According to the analysis based on announcements, developer interviews, and Steam notifications, the games that were stated to use AI are as follows:
- 1666: Amsterdam — Temporary AI assets were used in the game and in marketing materials. These are planned to be removed in the full release.
- AION 2 — AI tools were used in certain in-game assets, including some Arcana cards and icons.
- Ananta — AI is used in NPC interactions.
- Animo — AI is used in several different areas, including testing processes, but creature designs are stated to be human-made.
- Crazy Taxi: World Tour — Generative AI support tools were used for reference purposes during development.
- Crimson Desert: Enhanced Edition — AI was used in temporary assets.
- Like or Die — Generative AI was used to assist in the creation of some assets.
- Once Human — AI-generated content is used in marketing materials.
- Petit Planet — The game has a direct AI chatbot system.
- PUBG Ded.Net — AI tools were used in the development of some in-game content.
- The Blood of the Dawnwalker — Temporary AI voices were used during development, and these are planned to be replaced with real actor voices in the final release.
- Train Sim World 7 — ElevenLabs-based text-to-speech technology is used for platform and in-train announcements.
- ZOOPUNK — Players can utilize AI tools in some customization options.
Interestingly, these 13 games are only those that explicitly state the use of AI. Therefore, the actual rate is likely higher. While some companies use artificial intelligence only in testing, reference, or temporary content production, others extend it directly to systems that the player encounters.
These usage patterns are not all the same. There is a significant difference between creating a temporary concept art in a game and connecting NPC conversations to AI or producing voiceovers with text-to-speech. Nevertheless, looking at the overall picture, it can be said that Gamescom 2026 clearly demonstrates how widespread the use of artificial intelligence has become in game development. These tools, which were considered an exception a few years ago, are now appearing in a significant portion of the games shown at major events.
