Kingdom Come Director Says AI is Here to Come
Daniel Vávra, writer and director of the Kingdom Come: Deliverance series, argued that artificial intelligence (AI) has reached an irreversible point in the gaming and film industries. In a social media post, Vávra highlighted the level reached by generative AI tools, stating that this technology can no longer be ignored.
“AI is Here and It Won’t Go Away”
Vávra’s statements came to light in response to content showcasing photorealistic generative AI videos. According to the experienced developer, these technologies make it possible for a single person to produce work close to large-scale productions in a short time. He states that this represents a fundamental transformation for both the film and gaming industries.
The renowned director argues that opposing AI is now pointless, suggesting instead that working with new tools is a more realistic approach. According to Vávra, AI offers an opportunity for creative work to emerge without the need for large corporate budgets, thus opening doors for independent producers.
However, this approach is at the heart of ongoing debates across the industry. While AI’s ability to accelerate development processes and reduce costs is seen positively, the possibility of it replacing artists, voice actors, and actors has drawn serious criticism. The ethical boundaries are still unclear.
Vávra responds to these criticisms with an analogy. He compares the use of AI to cars speeding up transportation, arguing that rejecting the technology means resisting progress. According to him, the real question is whether to completely exclude AI or find ways to use it consciously and productively. It’s already clear that this debate will intensify in the gaming world in the coming years.
