Luna Abyss Announces Release Date

Luna Abyss, with its striking visual style and unique gameplay, has long been a much-anticipated independent project. With the announcement by Kwalee, the game’s release date is now confirmed. Combining science fiction, cosmic horror, and a fast-paced FPS, the game looks set to be one of the standout shooter experiences of 2026. Initial demo reviews, in particular, indicate that the game leaves a strong impression not only with its style but also with its gameplay rhythm.

Luna Abyss Releases May 21st

Luna Abyss will be released on May 21, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Steam, Epic Games Store, and PlayStation 5. Its availability on Game Pass from day one could allow it to reach a wider audience. Subscription services are creating significant visibility for these kinds of ambitious independent projects, and Luna Abyss seems poised to capitalize on this advantage.

In the game, we control a prisoner named Fawkes. Fawkes is forced to explore a massive, abandoned structure located beneath the surface of Luna, a simulated moon that mysteriously appeared in Earth orbit. He is accompanied on this journey by an AI guard named Aylin. Traces of the lost colony of Greymont, the mysterious entity known as All-Father, and a dark prophecy are among the main elements shaping the game’s narrative.

In terms of gameplay, the classic FPS structure is combined with a bullet hell mentality. Enemies unleash complex bullet patterns on the screen, requiring the player to both survive and use the right weapons at the right time. The use of a cooldown and overheating system instead of a traditional ammo system makes weapon switching a natural part of the game, resulting in more dynamic and demanding combat.

Exploration and platforming sections are also important elements that diversify the game’s pace. Players run, jump, and move quickly through massive, vertical, and brutally designed areas. While it’s stated that each biome will end with massive boss battles, the total gameplay time is expected to be between 8 and 10 hours. Luna Abyss could be a strong alternative for players looking for a short but intense experience.
