Razer Prio Fits Full-Size Controllers into a Credit Card Size

Razer has introduced the Prio, a new mobile gaming controller developed for iPhone and Android phones. The most striking feature of the model is that it maintains a classic console-type control layout while folding down to just 107 × 67 × 23 mm. Weighing 101 grams, the device can be unfolded with a single motion and used with phones up to 7 inches in screen size. Razer aims to eliminate the need for mobile gamers to carry an extra-large controller in their bag.

Razer Prio Offers Full Control Layout Despite Foldable Design

When unfolded, the Prio offers a full console controller layout with analog sticks, a four-way D-pad, face buttons, bumper, and trigger buttons. The analog sticks use capacitive sensing technology instead of physical contact. Razer states that this design can reduce wear and tear over time and help lower the risk of stick drift.

On the connectivity side, USB-C has been preferred over Bluetooth. This allows the controller to operate with low latency and, since it draws power directly from the phone, it doesn’t require a separate battery or charger. It’s also stated that it can be used with most thin and medium-sized phone cases without needing to be removed.

In terms of compatibility, iOS 18 and Android 14 or later versions are supported. Prio isn’t limited to mobile gaming; it can also be used with services like Xbox Cloud Gaming, Steam Link, PS Remote Play, and Razer PC Remote Play. The Razer Cortex Mobile button allows users to access their game library with a single touch.

Razer positions Prio as the first model in its new ultra-portable mobile controller family. The foldable design specifically targets users who play games on the go, at school, or outdoors. However, the company hasn’t yet shared a price or release date. Therefore, the biggest question mark for now is at what price point Prio will offer its portability advantage.
