Ridley Scott Will Continue the Alien Series with Michael Fassbender
Ridley Scott has announced he’s preparing to return to the Alien universe and is working on the next film. The director’s plan is to directly continue the prequel story that began with Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. According to Scott, David, played by Michael Fassbender, will once again be central to the new film, and the story will pick up where Covenant left off.
The Alien Series Will Return to David’s Story
Scott stated that he has resumed work on the new Alien film and is rewriting the script. According to the director, the next story will be a direct continuation of Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. This means that some questions that have remained unanswered for years may be brought back to the table. In particular, Michael Fassbender’s character, David, will be the most important figure at the center of the new film.
David’s story was left quite open at the end of Alien: Covenant. Scott now states that he wants to continue from the point where the character sees himself as almost a godlike figure. The director also says that the idea of AI getting out of control still interests him greatly and that he plans to take this theme further through David.
This decision could also change the direction of the series after Alien: Romulus. It was suggested that Fede Álvarez wanted to use David in the Romulus sequel, but Scott was not keen on this approach. Scott’s direct return to the project now shows that he wants to complete the prequel trilogy with his own vision.
However, there is an important detail here: 20th Century Studios has not yet officially confirmed Ridley Scott’s new Alien film. Therefore, the project is currently in development and has no release date. Nevertheless, Scott’s direct targeting of the Covenant sequel significantly increases the possibility of finally bringing the long-unfinished David story to a conclusion.
