Wonder Woman 3 Plans Changed with DC Studios’ New Universe
According to Gadot, during her meeting with Gunn and Safran in 2023, she was told that a third Wonder Woman film would be developed. The actress spoke very positively about her future at the time. However, in her current statement, she says that she hasn’t had any concrete discussions recently about returning as Wonder Woman or playing another character within the DCU.
On the other hand, Patty Jenkins had previously confirmed that the Wonder Woman 3 project was canceled by DC Studios. News reports at the time stated that the story Jenkins was preparing did not align with Gunn and Safran’s new DCU plans. Following this, it was reported that Supergirl screenwriter Ana Nogueira had begun working on a new Wonder Woman film. This largely indicates the end of the Gadot era.
The main uncertainty here is whether DC Studios is truly committed to making a new film with Gadot in 2023. One possibility is that the studio initially planned to continue Wonder Woman 3 with Gal Gadot, but this decision changed as the new universe took shape. Another possibility is that Gadot interpreted the discussions as a more definite plan at a very early stage. Neither party has shared all the details of the process.
