Will Ryan Hurst return to His Role as Kratos in the God of War Series?
Ryan Hurst was generally well-received when he was cast as Kratos in Prime Video’s God of War series, but his first appearance as the character didn’t have the same impact. The photo was criticized for looking too artificial, even giving off a cosplay vibe. After a bicep injury, Hurst was removed from the project, and it was rumored that Dave Bautista was being considered as his replacement. Now, a new Kratos photo that Hurst shared and then quickly deleted has reignited the question of whether he might return.
Could Ryan Hurst Return to the Role of Kratos?
The new photo Hurst shared on Instagram is thought to be from a makeup test. This time, the actor’s physical appearance is much larger and closer to Kratos compared to the first official image. Moreover, although his skin hasn’t yet been completely transformed into the character’s iconic white tone, his beard, facial structure, and overall look have received more positive comments from fans.
However, there’s no official indication that this photo means Hurst will return to the role. The reported reason behind his departure from the project was a bicep injury. It’s suggested that Prime Video decided to re-cast the role without giving him time to recover. Dave Bautista was also mentioned as one of the names being considered for Kratos.
Hurst’s new photo has reignited the debate about why the first image looked so weak. Some fans believe the problem isn’t so much the actor himself, but rather the lighting and makeup choices used in the photo. The fact that Hurst looks much more suited to Kratos in the new image strengthens this possibility.
