Serious Sam: Shatterverse Release Date Announced

Serious Sam: Shatterverse expands the series’ familiar high-paced FPS structure with a multiverse concept and roguelite systems. Developed by Devolver Digital and Behaviour Interactive, the game draws different versions of Serious Sam from different universes into the same battle. Players will encounter both classic enemies and new threats as they progress through changing worlds.

When is Serious Sam: Shatterverse Released?

Serious Sam: Shatterverse will be released on August 31st for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The PC version will be available on Steam and the Microsoft Store. At the heart of the game is the Shatterverse, created by Uber Mental shattering the boundaries between universes.

Sam will be part of a multi-dimensional organization called the Serious Program this time. Players will take over battles left unfinished by other Sams in different realities and must defeat Mental’s five powerful lieutenants to progress. Each of these enemies is designed as a separate boss fight and will be a key objective of the runes.

Due to the roguelite structure, death doesn’t mean the end of the game. Each new run will allow players to try different power-ups, modifiers, and strategies. Anomalies, hidden portals, and high-risk options found on the maps can completely change the course of the run. Some upgrades will be permanent, opening up new possibilities in subsequent attempts.

On the weapon side, the classic Serious Sam arsenal returns, while entirely new equipment will also be added. The large arenas where hundreds of enemies attack simultaneously, the classic run-and-shoot gameplay, and the series’ humor will be preserved. Serious Sam: Shatterverse aims to make the series more replayable by combining this core structure with procedurally changing runes and different universes.
