The Blood of Dawnwalker 2 May Not have a Time Limit
The Blood of Dawnwalker 2 is in development following the first game, and Rebel Wolves are already thinking about the future of the series. The time limit system, one of the most talked-about aspects of the first game, doesn’t necessarily have to be used in the sequel. Game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz stated that they haven’t made a final decision yet and will act according to the needs of the story.
The Blood of Dawnwalker 2 May Change the Time System
The first The Blood of Dawnwalker had a time system that didn’t allow players to do everything without limits. While some players disliked this mechanic, mods that removed the time limit appeared even before the game was released. Tomaszkiewicz, however, argues that the system was a conscious design choice and wants players to try it in its current form.
According to the director, the time limit system isn’t as restrictive as some might think. Tomaszkiewicz states that approximately 80% of the game’s content can be completed within the current timeframe. He believes the goal isn’t to force the player to do everything at once, but rather to allow them to decide which tasks are truly important and to strengthen the sense of urgency in the story.
However, this approach shouldn’t automatically continue for The Blood of Dawnwalker 2. Tomaszkiewicz says the time limit system will only be used in sections where it truly fits the story. If the new game’s narrative doesn’t require such a structure, the mechanic won’t be forcibly added. The team is also exploring other unconventional ideas that could differentiate the RPG genre.
The fact that the first game sold a million copies in just three days shows that criticisms of the time limit didn’t seriously hinder commercial success. Nevertheless, the developers aren’t taking the system for granted. The Blood of Dawnwalker 2 could adopt a more flexible time approach depending on the story’s structure, or it could only use the time limit system for specific tasks. A final decision will require further development.
