In a statement by One More Level, it was noted that the team had been considering the price of Valor Mortis for a long time. The developers say they believe the game can compete with full-priced titles in terms of quality, visual level, and story length. However, they point out that this fall, players’ time and money are being demanded by numerous games.
Therefore, Valor Mortis was scheduled to launch on October 13th with a price tag of $39.99. This makes it a more accessible option compared to other games released around the same time at $60 or $70. The fact that it will be released so close to big-budget games like Gears of War: E-Day is cited as one of the main reasons behind this pricing decision.
The studio has also already prepared its post-launch plans. One More Level announced that it is working on a large story DLC planned for release in 2027. Players who purchase the $59.99 Deluxe Edition will have access to this expansion pack on release day. The Deluxe Edition will also offer various cosmetic items.
Valor Mortis stands out with its first-person Soulslike gameplay, inspired by games like Dark Souls and Dishonored. The development team explains the lower price not as a lack of quality, but rather as a desire to offer a more attractive option to players during a crowded launch period.
