The First Strong Prediction for the GTA 6 Online Release Date has Emerged
GTA 6 Online remains one of the most anticipated aspects of the series’ future. Given the significant role GTA Online played in GTA 5’s longevity, how Rockstar will handle the multiplayer aspect of the new game is of paramount importance. While the company hasn’t yet shared an official release date, a recent statement from Twitch CEO Dan Clancy offered a noteworthy clue regarding a possible timeline.
GTA 6 Online Could Be Released in 2027
Twitch CEO Dan Clancy, while discussing the potential impact of GTA 6 on the platform, stated that they are in discussions with Rockstar Games. It’s reported that Twitch is particularly in contact with Rockstar regarding how content creators can prepare for the GTA 6 era. Clancy stated that they expect a significant increase in viewership with the release of GTA 6, but he believes the real leap will occur the following year when the multiplayer mode is released.
The key point here is that Clancy’s statement doesn’t constitute an official GTA 6 Online release date. It’s not a direct confirmation, but rather an estimate based on current discussions and expectations from the Twitch CEO. Rockstar Games has yet to announce an official timeline for the release of GTA 6’s multiplayer component.
Looking back, this possibility isn’t entirely unreasonable. GTA 5’s online mode launched approximately two weeks after the main game’s release. However, given the much larger scale of development for GTA 6 and the massive growth of GTA Online over the years, it wouldn’t be surprising if Rockstar opted for a longer preparation period for the multiplayer aspect this time.
Previously leaked court documents mentioned 32-player lobbies for GTA 6 Online, but this information hasn’t been officially confirmed by Rockstar. For now, the strongest clue is the Twitch CEO’s statement that he expects GTA 6 Online to arrive in 2027. We’ll have to wait for an official announcement from Rockstar for the definitive date.
