The Flintstones are Getting a Remake, and the Lead Actor Casting will be Surprising
It is reported that Ryan Gosling and his producing partner Jessie Henderson have begun working on a new The Flintstones film being developed under the Warner Bros. umbrella. The project is still in its very early stages, and the team is currently looking for a screenwriter. The most striking detail is that the story will center on the adult Bamm-Bamm Rubble. While it hasn’t been officially announced that Gosling will take on the lead role, his role as one of the producers makes this possibility quite likely.
The Flintstones Will Focus on Bamm-Bamm Rubble This Time
Bamm-Bamm is known in the Flintstones universe as Barney and Betty Rubble’s adopted son. Despite being a baby, the character possesses incredible physical strength and, with his stick, has become one of the most memorable characters in the series. Bamm-Bamm, who has been close to Pebbles Flintstone since childhood, later marries her.
The character has been brought into adulthood before. A younger version was seen in The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show, which told more mundane stories like his first job and joining the Bedrock Rockers band. The new film, however, seems to want to take this idea to a much larger-scale live-action production.
Whether Ryan Gosling will play Bamm-Bamm is not yet confirmed. However, considering the actor’s recent focus on more unconventional projects like Barbie, such a role doesn’t seem entirely impossible. Still, since the script hasn’t even reached the writing stage yet, it may take some time for the cast to be finalized.
The Flintstones were previously brought to the big screen in 1994 with a live-action film starring John Goodman and Rick Moranis. The film was a box office success, followed by The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas in 2000, but it didn’t achieve the same success. A release date for the new Bamm-Bamm project has not yet been announced. For now, the most interesting aspect is that this time the series will feature a character from the new generation instead of Fred.
