Ubisoft Reduced, not Increased, the Salaries of its Employees

Ubisoft’s 2026 annual report reveals a decline in employee salaries and staff numbers. The company, which has recently been in the news due to layoffs, studio closures, and project cancellations, saw its average annual salary per employee decrease compared to the previous year. The data shows that Ubisoft’s ongoing cost-cutting process has affected not only the number of employees but also salary levels.

Ubisoft Experiences a 4% Drop in Employee Salaries

According to the report, the average annual total salary of Ubisoft employees decreased from €71,940 in the previous year to €69,399. This change corresponds to a decrease of approximately 4% year-on-year. Calculations in dollars show that the average salary decreased from approximately $82,123 to $79,222. However, it should be noted that these figures may include bonuses and other benefits in addition to salary.

The proportion of young employees within the company has also decreased significantly. The share of employees under 30 in the total workforce, which was 23.7% the previous year, fell to 19.6% in the latest report. This decline suggests that young employees may have been significantly affected by Ubisoft’s layoffs and restructuring process.

As of March 2026, Ubisoft’s total number of employees was reported as 16,590. Of these, 14,704 were directly involved in game production, while the remaining approximately 11% worked in publishing. The previous year, the company had a total of 17,782 employees, with a production team of 15,717.

Thus, Ubisoft lost a total of 1,192 employees in one year. The decrease in production reached 1,013 people. The decrease in Ubisoft employee wages indicates that the company is trying to increase budget discipline and reduce costs. However, it is not yet known what impact this will have on employee motivation, talent loss, and game development processes.
