With GTA 6’s New Mechanics, Heists Will be Much More Exciting

In GTA V, robberies during free roam were quite simple. Entering a store, threatening the cashier with a gun, taking the money, and then escaping the police was often enough. However, there are strong indications that GTA 6 may utilize systems requiring more planning, especially in the escape phase. The footage shown so far suggests that police pursuit could encompass not only Jason and Lucia but also the vehicles used in the crime.

Changing Vehicles and Outfits May Become Important in GTA 6 Robberies

In one of the scenes shown, the getaway vehicle used after the robbery is set on fire, and then the robbers switch to another vehicle. This detail raises the possibility that players might have to eliminate the vehicle involved in the crime instead of just escaping the police. If this system is also used in free roam, choosing the right vehicle before the robbery could become much more important.

Disguise and clothing systems could also be part of the escape mechanics. Players using masks before a heist, then changing clothes and vehicles in a different area, could be one way to reduce police pursuit. This kind of structure could make the preparation and escape phases much more meaningful compared to the more direct crime system in GTA V.

This possibility has already generated excitement within the community. Some players want free-roaming heists to include steps such as preparing a getaway vehicle beforehand, leaving a second vehicle in side streets, and changing appearances after the crime. Such a system could turn even minor off-mission crimes into a longer and more planned gameplay cycle.

However, Rockstar Games has not yet confirmed that free-roaming heists in GTA 6 will actually work this meticulously. The vehicle switching, disguise, and revamped wanted system seen so far only strengthen this possibility. If these mechanics work together in the final game, GTA 6’s heists could become much more dynamic and tense compared to previous games.
