A Bug in Marvel’s Wolverine Revealed the Game’s Massive Open World

Marvel’s Wolverine continues to be scrutinized by players since its release, and this time, the problem isn’t a simple visual glitch. A player discovered a bug that allows players to go beyond the normal boundaries of the map, revealing a much larger area than expected. The purpose of this area is unclear, but it’s speculated that the game may have had a different structure during its development.

Marvel’s Wolverine May Have Been Planned as an Open World

The bug, discovered by YouTuber Turned, occurs during the “The One That Got Away” mission. Players who climb a specific building and jump off the map can reach a large area that is normally inaccessible. The area is incomplete; it’s possible to navigate through paths, see floating terrain, and fall below the map.

Interestingly, this area doesn’t appear to be a completely empty developer space. The video shows some completed environmental assets and functioning combat systems. Furthermore, the fact that it’s accessible from later sections of the map strengthens the possibility that the North Vancouver area may have been designed on a larger scale at some point in the development process.

This naturally raises the question of whether the game was initially planned as a semi-open world or a larger area. Insomniac Games hasn’t confirmed this. Moreover, the change in director during development doesn’t alone prove that the game’s scope was reduced. So, for now, we have an interesting error and a strong hypothesis based on it.

This new discovery suggests that some ideas we didn’t see in the final version may have actually been tried during development. If this area is a remnant of an old design, there could be significant differences between the Marvel’s Wolverine players saw and Insomniac’s initial plans.
