TGS 2026 Capcom Spotlight: All Announcements
Tokyo Game Show 2026 is in full swing, and this time it was Capcom’s turn. While the company didn’t announce any new games, they shared new trailers, gameplay footage, and release details for previously announced projects. Mega Man Dual Override, Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, and Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance were particularly prominent in the presentation.
Capcom Spotlight also clarified Resident Evil’s plans for Switch 2, a new character for Street Fighter 6, and the pre-registration process for Monster Hunter Outlanders. While some series like Ace Attorney didn’t receive new announcements, the amount of content shown for existing games ensured the event wasn’t lacking in excitement.
TGS 2026 Capcom Spotlight Announcements
Mega Man Dual Override
Mega Man Dual Override was the opening game of Capcom Spotlight at TGS 2026. Capcom reaffirmed that Proto Man, previously announced, will be a playable character. Players will be able to choose between Mega Man and Proto Man, and the game’s name “Dual Override” directly reflects this dual nature.
While Mega Man retains his classic ranged gameplay style, Proto Man will have a more close-range, Zero-like style. Both characters can be upgraded with over 50 different chips during gameplay; some chips provide minor ability boosts, while others can make Mega Man’s buster weapon fully automatic. Defeating Robot Masters will again grant new powers, and the Twinkle Girl battle shown demonstrated that the classic Mega Man formula is preserved. The game is scheduled for release in Spring 2027.
Pragmata
Pragmata was shown with new cosmetic content during Capcom Spotlight. Mega Man and Roll-themed costumes were announced for the game’s two main characters. This outfit pack, referencing Capcom’s own history, will be offered for free.
Additionally, the first major price reduction for Pragmata has begun. Players waiting for a price drop to buy the game can now access it at a lower price in many stores. No new story or gameplay content was shown during the presentation, but it’s clear that Capcom is continuing post-launch support.
Resident Evil Games Coming to Nintendo Switch 2
Capcom has announced that six games from the modern era of the Resident Evil series will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil Requiem will all be playable on the portable console.
This move brings together a large portion of the main Resident Evil games from recent years on the Switch 2. Capcom also reminded users that they are working on different projects for the series’ 30th anniversary. Thus, Switch 2 owners will be able to experience the remake trilogy, the Ethan Winters era, and the new Resident Evil Requiem all on the same platform.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen was showcased at TGS 2026 with extensive new gameplay footage. The update brings performance improvements, new abilities, new enemies, and a major threat central to the story.
One of the most significant additions to Dark Arisen will be Forsaken Dominion, where players will investigate the secret of the immortal dragon. In addition, 12 new dungeons, new threats, and a significantly revamped character creation system will be added. Official Pawns created by content creators worldwide will also be added to the game over time. Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen will be released on October 6th.
Street Fighter 6
Street Fighter 6 has been featured on Capcom Spotlight with gameplay footage of its new DLC character, Arjun. Arjun is shown to have a highly aggressive fighting style that relies on constantly keeping his opponent under pressure. The character is playable at the Capcom booth at Tokyo Game Show 2026.
Capcom is also preparing to add visuals of actors from the Street Fighter movie to the character selection screens. For example, Guile will be paired with an image of Cody Rhodes, who portrayed the character in the film. Outfit 4 for C. Viper will also be part of the ongoing swimsuit costume series and will be released on October 14th, alongside Arjun.
Monster Hunter Outlanders
Monster Hunter Outlanders was once again presented as one of Capcom’s projects continuing to expand the Monster Hunter brand. The pre-registration process for the game has begun, and players can already register through app stores.
The presentation didn’t share extensive new gameplay details. Instead, Capcom focused on the game’s accessibility and its imminent expansion to a wider audience. How Monster Hunter Outlanders will interpret the series’ vast world on mobile will become clearer in the coming months.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance received its most comprehensive Capcom Spotlight preview yet. The massive expansion pack will take place several years after the base game’s story and unfold under the shadow of the Great Dragon threatening the world. New “island constellation”-like regions in the sky will also be a significant part of the explorable areas.
Ecosystems will also be directly affected by the changes in the story. The trailer shows a scene where a creature is born from the corpse of another, and one of the characters says “something is not right,” suggesting that the balance of nature will be severely disrupted. The Elder Dragon Teostra also returns and can be hunted in the playable demo at Tokyo Game Show.
Ascendance Brings New Region and Madoi Base
Ascendance will take place several years after where the main story of Monster Hunter Wilds ended. During this time, the Hunter’s Guild and other characters have established a new base called Madoi to withstand the Great Dragon threat.
Characters familiar from the base game will also return. Names like Nada will appear with new looks reflecting the time jump. This shows that Ascendance is not just a pack of new hunts, but a true continuation that moves the main story forward.
Boost Bracer and Boost Driver Expand the Combat System
With Ascendance, players will also have access to new equipment pieces. Boost Bracer can be attached to almost all weapon types and will change existing attack patterns with more powerful variations.
Boost Driver will provide different move sets. When the two systems are used together, it will open the way for heavier and more effective combinations. According to Capcom, the Boost system will add new options to all 14 weapon types in the game. This shows that the expansion will bring significant changes not only to the content but also to the gameplay.
A New Elder Dragon Appears
Ascendance’s new area, Skybound Eyrie, will not only be a visually different area. A new, previously unseen Elder Dragon, said to be able to control storms, will appear here.
Considering Teostra’s return, it is clear that the expansion will be quite intense on the Elder Dragon side. On one hand, the great threat posed by the Great Dragon, and on the other, the new Elder Dragon and returning classic creatures, indicate that even more dangerous hunts await players.
Monster Hunter Wilds is coming to Nintendo Switch 2
Capcom has also announced a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Monster Hunter Wilds. The game will feature both local and online multiplayer support, and previous updates released for current versions will be included in the Switch 2 package.
Persistent event quests will also be accessible to Switch 2 players. Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on December 6th for Nintendo Switch 2. The Ascendance expansion will also come to the platform later, but a definitive Ascendance release date for the Switch 2 version has not yet been announced.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance Coming in 2027
The closing of Capcom Spotlight was made with the reconfirmation of the 2027 release window for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance. New biomes, Elder Dragons, the Great Dragon threat, and Boost mechanics will form the basis of the expansion pack.
Players attending TGS 2026 will be able to try out some of the expansion’s new features in the event area already. While a definitive release date hasn’t been announced yet, the amount of content Capcom has revealed already suggests Ascendance will be a massive expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds.
