Activision Found a Call of Duty Cheater and Confronted Him
Call of Duty’s RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system, used for years, is generally known for account bans, software detection, and in-game measures. However, Activision has recently begun directly targeting not only players who use cheats, but also those who develop and sell these software programs. In the latest incident, the company tracked down an individual allegedly linked to the cheating service Elocarry to their address in Ohio.
Activision Goes to Cheat Seller’s Door with Legal Notice
In the footage shared by Activision, an unnamed representative is seen going to a house in Ohio and handing documents to the person who opened the door. The footage is stated to have been recorded on August 22nd at 09:50, and the representative explains that the documents are a cease and desist notice sent by Activision lawyers. The person receiving the documents is then asked to contact the law firm specified in the documents.
The company states that the visit took place during a recent Call of Duty closed beta and that the operation targeted the Elocarry service. Activision also emphasizes that this is not an one-off incident. This statement suggests that other cheat developers and sellers may face similar legal action, with their physical addresses being tracked down.
Elocarry previously sold packages for Black Ops 7 and Warzone that included aimbot, ESP, triggerbot, and controller support. The service claimed its software was undetectable by RICOCHET and offered three-month subscriptions for up to £79.99. Following Activision’s intervention, the site hasn’t been completely shut down, but Call of Duty and Warzone cheats have been removed from existing game listings.
Activision’s use of legal action against cheat developers is nothing new. In 2024, the company won over $14 million in damages in a lawsuit against EngineOwning. This new incident clearly shows how far the fight has gone. RICOCHET is no longer just an in-game system; It is becoming part of a broader sanctions strategy that directly targets counterfeit sellers in the real world as well.
