Angelic: Dark Symphony Will Stand Out from Its Compendiums with Its Story
Angelic: Dark Symphony, despite being Angelicore Game Studios’ first game, boasts an experienced team. Composed of developers with backgrounds at Bungie, Crytek, and Ceidot Game Studios, the studio aims to combine a turn-based combat system with a character-driven and darker narrative. While not many details have been shared about the game yet, even the revealed story structure suggests it will deviate somewhat from the classic RPG formula.
What Kind of Story Will Angelic: Dark Symphony Tell?
In the game’s world, humanity as we know it has largely disappeared. The artificially enhanced neo-humans created by humanity to adapt to space have gradually come to be known as “angels.” However, the fact that these beings have become superior to ordinary humans in many ways has led to the control and exploitation efforts of the companies that created them.
Players will assemble a team of very different characters. Each character will have their own motivations and abilities, and these powers will be used to complement each other in turn-based combat. However, Angelic: Dark Symphony’s main differentiation isn’t just its combat system.
According to game director Erkan Bayol, the game won’t feature a single main character and supporting characters revolving around them. Instead, the story will be told from the perspectives of different heroes whose journeys progress in parallel. Instead of following a single “chosen one,” players will experience the story of the entire group and directly control these characters in battles.
Angelic: Dark Symphony is currently in active development and uses Unreal Engine 5. A release date or target platforms have not yet been announced. However, the first cinematic trailer and screenshots released suggest that the game will heavily rely on a dark science fiction atmosphere. If Angelic: Dark Symphony can successfully integrate this multi-character approach to narrative with its combat system, it could carve out a unique place for itself among turn-based RPGs.
