What Game Will Rockstar Make After GTA 6?

Rockstar is keeping silent about what game they will move on to after releasing GTA 6 on November 19, 2026. There has been no official announcement yet for a new Red Dead Redemption, Bully, or a completely different title. However, a major project with Rockstar as a publisher is already in development: Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, being developed by Remedy Entertainment. Therefore, it’s highly likely that the first major game to be released under the Rockstar logo after GTA 6 will be Max Payne.

Rockstar Could Release Max Payne After GTA 6

Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake will recreate the first two games in the series as a single title. Remedy Entertainment is handling the development, while Rockstar is financing the project and undertaking publishing and distribution. The game is being developed for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S using Remedy’s own Northlight engine.

The project entered full production in 2024, but there’s no official release date yet. Therefore, it’s impossible to definitively say whether Max Payne will be the first Rockstar release after GTA 6. However, considering that developing a new GTA or Red Dead Redemption game can take years, it seems quite likely that the Max Payne remake will be released sooner.

There’s also an important distinction here. Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake isn’t being developed directly by Rockstar. Remedy is the developer, while Rockstar is involved in financing and publishing. Therefore, Rockstar Games’ own studios haven’t yet announced a new independent game to develop after GTA 6.

The company is also expected to provide support for GTA 6 for a long time after its release. Official details regarding a new GTA Online version have not yet been shared, and information that has emerged so far is at the rumor stage. Max Payne could be the first major Rockstar-related project after GTA 6; we still need to wait for an official announcement regarding Rockstar’s next independently developed game.
