Bodycam Store Closed: “This is an extra, not a priority”

Bodycam has gained significant momentum again in recent weeks. The hyper-realistic FPS, developed with Unreal Engine 5, has both increased its player base and become a topic of discussion on social media again ahead of the upcoming Locked and Loaded update. A gameplay test conducted last weekend brought the game to its highest player levels since its early access release in June 2024, and it was announced that it had reached 3 million wishlists on Steam as of August 30th.

Bodycam Store Temporarily Disabled Before Update

Reissad Studio confirmed in a statement that the in-game store has been temporarily disabled as part of interface redesign work. The development team stated that they want to focus their resources as much as possible directly on the game and complete the Locked and Loaded update faster. According to the studio, the store should not be an element that overshadows the main experience.

The team summarizes this approach quite clearly: “A store should always be something added to the game, not a priority.” It was also announced that the upcoming update will not include a real-money purchase system. Reissad emphasizes that their current priority is improving gameplay quality and technical infrastructure, rather than expanding revenue models.

The Locked and Loaded update will be released on September 2nd and will be the most comprehensive content pack in Bodycam history. Recently released trailers and gameplay footage have also helped the game regain visibility, particularly within the niche shooter community.

The permanent removal of the store is not currently on the table. Reissad is simply putting it on the back burner during the current development phase. At a time when microtransactions and revenue models are being heavily debated across the industry, this decision clearly demonstrates the Bodycam team’s preference for strengthening the game’s core experience first.
