An anonymous employee, whose identity was confirmed on the GTA Forums, explained that the layoffs were sudden and that no evidence was provided to the employees.
According to the employee, this decision caught many off guard, creating significant anxiety throughout the studio. “We’re afraid to talk to each other now. We’re even anxious during our tea break. We don’t know who’s next,” the employee said, noting that morale is at a “rock bottom.”
This situation coincides with the recent delay of GTA 6 once again. While some interpreted the game’s postponement to November 2026 as a “move to reduce the crunch,” insiders paint a different picture. According to employees, overtime is still widespread and salaries are inadequate.
Rockstar Games employs thousands of people worldwide, and the extent of the incidents remains uncertain. However, following the protests in the UK and Canada, pressure on the studio is increasing.
