Heroes of Might & Magic 3 Remake Announced at Gamescom 2026

Ubisoft officially announced Heroes of Might & Magic III Remake during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. The idea of a remake, frequently discussed among fans of the series for years, is finally becoming a reality, and the project goes far beyond a simple graphics update. The original game’s turn-based strategy structure will be preserved, but Erathia will be completely rebuilt in 3D and expanded with modern systems.

Heroes of Might & Magic 3 Remake Will Be Fully 3D

Ubisoft is rebuilding the game from scratch using the Snowdrop Engine. The fixed isometric camera will be replaced by a freely movable 3D camera. 4K visuals, dynamic lighting, real-time weather conditions, and changing seasons will also be added to the game. Clearly, the aim here seems less about changing the spirit of the old game and more about reliving that map we’ve had in our minds for years, but with modern technology.

The content is also packed with content. In addition to the complete main game, the Armageddon’s Blade and The Shadow of Death expansions will be included in the remake. Nine classic factions are returning, including Castle, Necropolis, Inferno, Dungeon, Stronghold, Rampart, Tower, Fortress, and Conflux. Old campaigns will be combined into a single ongoing story structure, and a new prologue campaign will be prepared as an introduction for new players.

Multiplayer hasn’t been forgotten either. Online matches for up to eight players will be supported, the matchmaking system will be revamped, and a simultaneous turn system will be added. The beloved Hot Seat mode is also returning. Even better, compatibility with thousands of community-created maps and campaigns from the last 25 years will be maintained. Creating and sharing new content will also be easier thanks to updated editor tools and an in-game UGC hub.

Heroes of Might & Magic III Remake is scheduled for release in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The exact release date has not yet been announced. Meanwhile, the original Heroes of Might & Magic III Complete Edition has also been released on Steam for the first time. So, for those who don’t want to wait for the remake, the path back to Erathia is already open.
