MindsEye Studios’ Build A Rocket Boy May Have Reached the End of the Road

Build A Rocket Boy seems to have struggled to recover after MindsEye’s disappointing 2025 release. The studio has already seen several layoffs, but recent employee statements suggest the situation may no longer be limited to downsizing. The company hasn’t officially confirmed a closure yet, but the language used isn’t encouraging.

Build A Rocket Boy May Be Preparing for a Complete Shutdown

According to social media posts by former employees, a new wave of layoffs is underway at the studio. Lead weapons and accessories artist Adam Ridsdale announced that he and other colleagues have been laid off and are looking for new opportunities. Human resources employee Dan Hawkins similarly stated that he and the rest of the team have begun searching for new jobs.

MindsEye Studios' Build A Rocket Boy May Have Reached the End of the Road

One of the more striking statements came from a human resources employee who said they would “take the company to the very end” and help complete the remaining work. This statement was interpreted as suggesting that the studio might be preparing to cease operations altogether, rather than just undergoing further downsizing. However, there has been no official closure announcement from Build A Rocket Boy yet.

The studio has already been going through a difficult period since the release of MindsEye. Multiple waves of layoffs occurred, and former employees initiated legal proceedings through their unions. Employees also claimed that the game was developed under intense working conditions, negatively impacting their health.

The company management’s past explanation of MindsEye’s failure through allegations of “internal and external sabotage” was also highly controversial. However, no concrete results regarding these allegations have been made public. For now, what we can say with certainty is that Build A Rocket Boy is in a state of great uncertainty; if the employees’ statements are interpreted correctly, the studio may truly have reached the end of the road.
