Sony is Discussing Two Spider-Man Options for It’s New Prime Video Series
Despite Spider-Man’s cancellation after just one season of Spider-Noir, the Spider-Man universe hasn’t been completely shelved on Prime Video. It was previously rumored that Sony, in collaboration with Amazon, was working on multiple new projects, with at least one or two of them intended to be turned into series. Now, the first names of characters in the running have emerged. According to the new rumor, Spider-Punk and Silk are among the options being considered.
Spider-Punk and Silk Series in the Spider-Man Universe
Allegedly, Sony and Amazon currently have four different series scripts in hand. It’s stated that names like Kelvin Yu, Alison Tatlock, Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert, and Megan McDonnell are working on these projects. However, it hasn’t been revealed which script belongs to which character, and none of the projects have been officially confirmed.
The first name that stands out is Silk, played by Cindy Moon. This choice isn’t actually that surprising, as Amazon previously worked on a series called Silk: Spider Society. That project featured Cindy returning home after a long period of field research in remote areas to search for her missing family. Whether the new project will use the same story is unknown.
Another option is Spider-Punk, which gained significant popularity with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. There were previously rumors of a standalone animated film for Hobie Brown. Now, it’s being suggested that the character could be adapted into a live-action series. Considering Spider-Man Noir also transitioned from animation to live-action, the idea doesn’t seem entirely unreasonable.
However, it’s necessary to apply the brakes here. The Spider-Punk and Silk series are currently only rumors. Despite Sony withdrawing its theatrical Spider-Man spin-off projects, it appears they are still considering new options for television. While Spider-Noir didn’t reach the expected wide audience, it received strong critical acclaim and won five Emmys.
