Take-Two Locks into a Discord User in Cyberleek Investigation
Extensive footage leaked online just before the official GTA 6 gameplay demonstration sparked a new investigation by Take-Two and Rockstar. It’s believed that the individual or group known as Cyberleek may have gained access to a playable version of the game. Now, Take-Two is reportedly focusing on two specific Discord users in its investigation and has filed a new court request to obtain information related to these accounts.
Discord Requests in Cyberleek Investigation Reduced
Take-Two’s new request, filed last Friday, is largely confidential, unlike previous requests. Almost the entire file is censored, which the company explains as a measure to avoid jeopardizing the investigation. According to Take-Two, making the details public could allow suspects to understand the progress of the investigation and make it easier to conceal their tracks.
The new request reportedly focuses specifically on two Discord users. One of these accounts is said to be a user previously mentioned in the investigation, while the other is newly identified. Take-Two also describes the process as a “rapidly evolving and ongoing” investigation. It’s also noted that the company is requesting different information in this application than in previous requests.
The scope of the investigation is also changing over time. It was previously known that Take-Two had requested information from Microsoft and YouTube in addition to Discord. However, according to new information, the request regarding YouTube has been withdrawn. One of the previous Discord requests was linked to a server belonging to YouTuber DarkViperAU. It is currently unclear whether this server is still part of the investigation.
The identity of Cyberleek remains unknown. It is thought that the account or group is acting on behalf of someone who actually played GTA 6 or had access to the playable version. The request for cryptocurrency donations during the leaks and the account’s silence shortly before the official GTA 6 reveal also raised questions. It’s unclear to what extent Discord will respond to the new court request, but it seems clear that Take-Two wants to conclude the investigation before the November 19th release of GTA 6.
