Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Receives Age Rating
The remake project for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has received a 12+ age rating in South Korea. This rating is higher than the “All Ages” rating received by the Nintendo 3DS version in the country. Following Nintendo’s brief showcase of the project in June, this development is considered a significant step in the game’s global release process.

It is stated that Nintendo applied for the age rating in South Korea on July 16th, and the result was published on July 24th. The 12+ rating in the country is usually given to productions containing moderate levels of fantasy violence, mild profanity, or limited adult content. However, it has not been explained which scenes led to the higher rating this time.
This situation has led to speculation that the remake might be darker or graphically more striking than the original game. The fact that already unsettling areas like the Shadow Temple are made much more impressive with modern visuals could explain the difference in age rating. However, this doesn’t confirm the presence of new chapters or significant content changes.
It’s also noted that the game has received an ESRB E10+ rating in the US and a provisional PEGI 12 rating in Europe. These ratings largely coincide with the 3DS version and don’t provide a clear indication of how much the remake has been changed. The question fans are most curious about is whether the game will be a direct remake or offer more extensive changes to gameplay and content.
Rumors that Nintendo will hold another Direct event in September are also raising expectations. With September 10th being mentioned as a possible date, it’s thought that the event might reveal a definitive release date or pre-order information for Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake. With the special Switch 2 products being prepared for Zelda’s 40th anniversary also taken into account, the possibility that Nintendo is preparing a bigger announcement focused on the series is becoming increasingly likely.
