Stranded Deep 2 Revealed New Gameplay Mechanics
Beam Team Games has officially announced the sequel to Stranded Deep, a longtime favorite in the survival genre. While the first game put players in control of a shipwreck survivor trying to stay alive in the Pacific Ocean, Stranded Deep 2 will immerse them in a harsh desert and river ecosystem. The first trailer showcases not only the new environment but also many new systems that will be added to the gameplay.
Stranded Deep 2 Will Offer a New River World
The most striking change in the trailer is the endless river world placed at the center of the game. Players will navigate through hand-crafted canyons, sand dunes, and vast valleys. This time, instead of simply drifting in the sea, they will need to follow rivers, reach different landmasses, and fight against natural threats in the environment. The development team plans to add new regions to this world after release.
On the transportation side, the boat system will play a significant role. In addition to the raft usage in the first game, players will now be able to navigate narrow river passages by boat. The trailer also shows scenes of dangerous animals like hippos and crocodiles attacking the boat, suggesting that the journey will not only be about transportation but also a direct part of the struggle for survival.
The new mechanics don’t stop there. In Stranded Deep 2, it will be possible to build floating structures, shape the terrain, and share the structures you’ve created. More detailed survival systems, such as temperature exposure, will also be included. Thus, players will have to deal more closely not only with hunger, thirst, and wildlife, but also with the physical conditions of the environment.
A definitive release date for Stranded Deep 2 has not yet been announced. However, like the first game, the sequel will first enter Early Access. Beam Team Games states that community feedback played a major role in the development of the first Stranded Deep and wants to continue this approach in the new game. Judging from the first trailer, the sequel is preparing to significantly expand the world and the player’s relationship with the environment while maintaining the familiar survival base.
