Two MCU Actors Dissatisfied with Their Multiverse Saga Roles

The MCU has continued to use big names in short-lived roles in both films and television in recent years. However, Giancarlo Esposito and Ethan Hawke, while expressing their satisfaction with being involved in Marvel projects, have made it clear that they expected their characters to be developed further. A common point between the two actors is that despite strong debuts, their roles ended quickly.

They Said They Expected More from Their MCU Roles

Giancarlo Esposito played the character Sidewinder in Captain America: Brave New World. The actor said he enjoyed the role but wanted to explore the scientist side of Seth Voelker more. According to Esposito, there was a more comprehensive story that could have been told, but the film didn’t give it enough space.

Esposito has also been frequently suggested by fans for the role of Professor X in the past. After another actor was cast for the role in the new X-Men project, the actor stated that he also found characters like Magneto interesting on the Marvel side. So the MCU door isn’t completely closed for him.

Ethan Hawke, who played Arthur Harrow in the Moon Knight series, said he was largely involved in the project due to his friendship with Oscar Isaac and that he found being part of a large organization like Marvel interesting. However, the brevity of his character’s story and his lack of return resulted in a different outcome than he expected.

Neither actor holds a negative view of Marvel Studios. Esposito wants his character to be developed further, while Hawke says he’s happy with his MCU experience. Nevertheless, both have openly stated that they believe the potential of their roles in the Multiverse Saga wasn’t fully utilized.
