1666: Amsterdam Launches in Early Access at Gamescom 2026

Developed by Panache Digital Games, 1666: Amsterdam was showcased again during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 and made its long-awaited Early Access debut. This third-person story-driven action-adventure takes players to an alternate and supernatural interpretation of 17th-century Amsterdam. At the heart of the game are Noa Brooklyn, known as The Collector, and his eccentric feline companion, Aaron.

1666: Amsterdam Demands Daytime Investigation and Nighttime Hunting

The game’s core system is built around a day and night cycle. During the day, players wander the streets of Amsterdam, gathering clues, investigating suspicious individuals, and tracking down supernatural beings in human form. At night, Esbat begins, and players must confront the identified creatures, known as Originals, in their true forms.

Noa is no ordinary warrior. Trained by the Zaindaris for a specific purpose, she uses her magical powers to uncover hidden entities. Aaron won’t just be a cute cat accompanying the story; gameplay information shared by the development team reveals that Aaron’s unique sections and abilities play a direct role in the investigation system.

Amsterdam itself is also a significant part of the game. Streets and buildings that appear quite normal during the day can become centers of supernatural events at night. Players will examine the markings on the exterior of each building to understand which clues are true and which are misleading. Thus, the city ceases to be merely a backdrop for quests and becomes a direct part of the investigation.

1666: Amsterdam began its Early Access phase on Steam on August 25, 2026. Panache Digital Games plans to use player feedback during this period to improve systems and grow the game over time. The free Prologue, released in June, offered a preview of the world’s characters and core mystery, lasting approximately 30 minutes.
