AION 2 Announced its Global Release Date at Gamescom 2026
Developed by NC, AION 2 was showcased with new footage during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. The MMORPG, which brings back the world of the first game with a larger and more modern structure, stands out particularly with its flight system, classes, and large-scale PvE content. The most significant aspect of the Gamescom presentation, however, was the announcement of the global release schedule for North and South America, Europe, and Asia.
AION 2 Global Release Launches on October 5th
The global release of AION 2 will be available for PC on October 5, 2026. The game will be accessible via Steam and NC’s PURPLE client. Founder’s Pack owners who want to start earlier will be able to access the game from September 30th and will have five days of early access before the official release.
NC will also be holding a Launch Scale Test to test the server infrastructure before release. This test, taking place on September 17th and 18th, will create an environment close to real-world service conditions. Players will be able to try out AION 2 before its release. Applications for the test can be made via Steam.
In terms of gameplay, AION 2 brings back the familiar flight mechanic from the series. It also features various PvE content such as Nightmare Dungeon, Seal Dungeon, Garrison, and Awakening Battle. Elements familiar from classic AION, such as Fire Temple and Kromede, are also returning, adapted to the new structure. Players will thus be able to rediscover the world they knew from the old game with even more content.
With the Gamescom 2026 presentation, the global roadmap for AION 2 has largely become clear. Following the mid-September test, Founder’s Pack owners will be able to access the servers starting September 30th, while the rest of the players will be able to log in on October 5th. With NC aiming to revive the AION brand, particularly in the Western market, this global release is poised to be one of the most noteworthy MMORPG launches of the fall.
