Jenna Ortega Thought Wednesday Would End Her Career
Jenna Ortega achieved a huge global breakthrough with Wednesday, but things didn’t seem that big to her when the first season was being prepared. The actress revealed that she feared her participation in the project could end her career and that she panicked as the release date approached. Moreover, she never expected the show to become such a huge success during filming.
Wednesday Frightened Jenna Ortega
In an interview with Esquire, Jenna Ortega said she thought her career would end after Wednesday. The actress stated that she didn’t fully understand what she was up against at the time, and her anxiety increased when Netflix started talking about a big release plan.
According to Ortega, the project felt quite small during filming in Romania. Despite Tim Burton being involved as director and executive producer, the cast apparently didn’t think the show would gain much attention. They even discussed how crazy the filming was, yet still thought it wouldn’t be noticed.
When the first season aired, it turned out Ortega herself had difficulty watching it. She explained that she only managed to watch a portion of the first episode and experienced a very intense emotional reaction afterward. Despite this, Wednesday quickly became one of Netflix’s most talked-about shows, taking Ortega’s career to a whole new level.
The third season is currently in production. Jenna Ortega will reprise her role as Wednesday Addams, while Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Emma Myers will also be in the cast. Winona Ryder is reportedly set to play Tabitha, and Eva Green will portray Wednesday’s aunt, Ophelia. Wednesday has not yet received a definitive release date for its third season.
