Capcom, Which has Sold 59 Million Games, is Doing Great
Capcom announced its financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, revealing a very strong performance. The publisher announced that it broke records in all profit categories for the ninth consecutive year. Net sales increased by 15.2 percent year-on-year, while game sales reached their highest level in company history. Capcom announced that it sold a total of 59.07 million games throughout the year.
Capcom Breaks Record in Game Sales
One of Capcom’s strongest releases of the year was Resident Evil Requiem. Released in February, the game sold 6.91 million copies in its first two months, significantly contributing to the company’s sales. According to Capcom, 83.7 percent of total game sales came from older catalog titles. This shows that the company relies not only on new releases but also on strong brands that continue to sell in the long term.
Digital sales have also become quite dominant for Capcom. The company announced that 93% of its game sales are digital downloads. The Resident Evil series, in particular, stands out with both new games and catalog sales. Capcom also states that it continues to diversify its revenue by leveraging its major brands in films, character merchandise, and esports.
The company expects continued growth in the new fiscal year ending March 31, 2027. Capcom’s goal is to report record profits for the 10th consecutive year. User growth in PRAGMATA, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the Street Fighter movie, and Street Fighter 6 are key factors in the company’s plans.
Capcom also says it will continue to invest in new technologies in game development processes for the coming period. In addition to its own game engine and development infrastructure, the company will evaluate the use of generative artificial intelligence for efficiency. This approach is expected to accelerate game development processes and increase productivity.
