If You’re Going to Buy a Nintendo Switch 2, Don’t Wait Any Longer
The Nintendo Switch 2 remains one of the most attractive options in the portable gaming world, but its current price may not be sustainable for long. Following the memory crisis that has already made PlayStation and Xbox consoles more expensive, there are talks that Nintendo may be next. According to an industry analyst, if the company cannot absorb further cost increases, the console’s price could reach unexpected levels.
Nintendo Switch 2 Price Could Exceed $800
Niko Partners Research Director Daniel Ahmad stated that the Nintendo Switch 2, at $499, is currently a very good option. According to the analyst, even if the price were to rise to $599 or $679, it would still make sense for a certain audience due to its portability and exclusive games. However, a price exceeding $800 would mean reaching a point where it would be quite difficult to justify the hardware it offers.
Behind this possibility lies the rapidly rising cost of memory in recent times. While PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series models have exceeded their launch prices significantly, Nintendo has so far kept price increases more limited. However, it’s not easy for manufacturers to constantly offset the increases in RAM and storage components from their own budgets. If cost pressure continues, it wouldn’t be surprising if Nintendo also changed its price tag.
If the Switch 2 approaches $800, the options users will compare it to will also change. At this price point, the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and some Steam Deck models offer more powerful hardware. Of course, Nintendo’s exclusive games, portability, and hybrid design provide a different experience. Still, it doesn’t seem easy for these features to justify the extra $300 difference for everyone.
Nintendo hasn’t yet announced a new price increase, and the $800 estimate is currently based only on a possible scenario. Therefore, it’s not accurate to say for sure that the console will reach this level in the near future. However, with the impact of the memory crisis on the industry, waiting is no longer as risk-free as it used to be. Those already planning to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 might consider bringing their decision forward a bit, given that current stock and prices are still stable.
