Like or Die Officially Announced at Gamescom 2026

NC officially unveiled its new game, previously codenamed Project Bonfire, at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 under the name Like or Die. This team-based survival FPS puts players in the shoes of streamers battling it out on an intergalactic streaming platform called Quaya Stream. This means you enter the battlefield not only to be the last team standing, but also to collect as many “LIKES” as possible from viewers. At first glance, it’s a rather strange but fun mix of battle royale, hero shooter, and base defense ideas.

Like or Die Lets You Change the Battlefield with Blocks

In matches, a total of 16 players are divided into four teams, and everyone tries to be the last team standing. Interestingly, dying doesn’t mean the end of the match. Each team has a respawn point called a Nexus, and as long as this structure remains standing, team members can return to the fight. Things get serious when the Nexus is destroyed; after that point, players who die have no chance of returning.

The game’s main feature is the Block Gun. With this weapon, you can place cube-shaped blocks anywhere on the map, create a defensive wall in seconds, or open a new passageway that your opponent never expected. The map doesn’t stay static throughout the match; players constantly reshape the battlefield with their own moves. This system slightly disrupts the classic “best aim wins” logic, incorporating creativity.

Gathering resources during combat will also be crucial. These resources can be used to purchase more powerful weapons and equipment, and air drops and Lucky Blocks sent by sponsors can provide extra advantages. Where you run to find resources, when you attack, and how well you defend your team’s Nexus will directly change the course of the match. All your actions are also live-streamed to the universe via Quaya Stream.

Like or Die is currently being developed for PC and has a Steam page. NC hasn’t yet announced a definitive release date; console versions are also unconfirmed. However, the initial demonstration shows that the game isn’t just trying to be another battle royale. The combination of publishing culture, block-based map changes, and Nexus defense has resulted in a highly dynamic and intriguing mix.
