Marvel Rivals Players May Soon Get Behind the Wheel
Marvel Rivals already likes to stretch its classic superhero shooter structure from time to time with different mods. We’ve seen how comfortable it is with this before with PvE content like Blood Hunt. Now, newly surfaced files and gameplay footage suggest NetEase might be taking things a step further and putting players behind the wheel.
Is a Racing Mod Being Prepared for Marvel Rivals?
X0XLEAK, known for various character leaks in the community, claims that new vehicle models and related files have been added to the game files. Following this discovery, a video shared by RivalsInfo shows a car being used in the Hellfire Bay Beach social area. The vehicle appears quite basic and doesn’t have any special design that would reveal a connection to a specific Marvel character.
The shared images don’t show the vehicle’s movements in a very polished way. The camera occasionally zooms in below the model, and the driving feel clearly indicates it’s in the prototype stage. Therefore, it’s difficult to say definitively whether what we’re seeing is a final feature that will be added to the game. However, the presence of content directly related to the vehicle system in the files suggests that NetEase is at least testing this idea.
The most striking point, however, is the Formula R cosmetics. Characters like Black Cat, Psylocke, Luna Snow, Thor, and Squirrel Girl have previously received costumes in this theme. At the time, these designs seemed somewhat irrelevant, but looking back now, the possibility of early preparation for a Formula R racing mode is strengthened.
For now, such a mode doesn’t appear in the Season 9.5 roadmap. Therefore, we shouldn’t expect racing content to arrive in the short term. If the leaks are accurate, NetEase may be saving this for a larger season update, or even a significant period like Season 10. If Marvel Rivals does indeed add a racing mode, it could have one of the strangest but most fun side features in the superhero shooter genre.
