Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Showed Its Launch Trailer at Gamescom
Asobo Studio and Focus Entertainment released a new launch trailer for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy during Gamescom Opening Night Live. Set 15 years before A Plague Tale: Requiem, the game centers on a young Sophia instead of Amicia and Hugo. The trailer more clearly reveals the secrets hidden beneath Minotaur Island and the connection between Sophia’s past and Macula.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Delves into Sophia’s Past
In the story, Sophia is forced to flee Venice after a major heist she attempted with her late father’s gang goes awry. Accompanied only by Leni, she finds herself on Minotaur Island. There, she must both escape her pursuers and discover the remnants of an ancient civilization hidden beneath the island.
One of the key aspects of the new trailer is that the story won’t be limited to the Middle Ages. Players will also encounter a parallel narrative set in the Minoan era. These sections will reveal previously untold details about Macula’s origins, showcasing events from the island’s past.
In terms of gameplay, Sophia will be a much more combative character compared to previous A Plague Tale heroines. Chain sword attacks, daggers, kicks, and parries will be available in direct combat. Additionally, using light effectively in dark areas, solving puzzles, and staying away from the threats constantly following Sophia will be crucial parts of the experience.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy will be released on August 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The game will also be added to Xbox Game Pass on the same day and will offer Xbox Play Anywhere support. A playable demo will also be available at the Focus Entertainment and Xbox booths throughout Gamescom 2026.
