Voting for the Steam Awards 2025 has begun
The nomination process for the 2025 Steam Awards has begun. At Valve’s annual awards ceremony, users will be able to vote to determine the best games of the year. Voting, held in 11 different categories, will run until December 1st. Finalists will be announced during the Steam Winter Sale on December 18th, and the winners will be announced on January 3, 2026.
11 Categories Announced for the 2025 Steam Awards
This year’s awards feature classic categories like Game of the Year, Best Soundtrack, and Outstanding Story-Rich Game. Among the nominees in the RPG genre are Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Digimon Story: Time Stranger. The VR Game of the Year category, however, has a more limited selection. Furthermore, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which was released exclusively for PS5 in 2024 but is coming to Steam in 2025, is eligible for nominations this year.
A dedicated category for Steam Deck is also attracting users. Games like Hades 2, Ninja Gaiden 4, and Hollow Knight: Silksong stand out for their verified performance on Valve’s portable device. Additionally, fun categories like “Best Game You Suck At” and “Sit Back and Relax” aim to reward players’ diverse experiences.
The “Better With Friends” category is noteworthy for multiplayer games. Games like REPO, ARC Raiders, and Where Winds Meet are among the top contenders. There’s also a “Labor of Love” category for long-standing titles. Games like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Final Fantasy 14 have been nominated for this award thanks to their years of updates.
Finally, new releases like Dispatch are also on the nomination list. The finalists, determined by player votes, will be announced on December 18th.
