Star Wars Zero Company appears to have had a successful launch, both in terms of player reviews and concurrent player numbers. However, an allegation from the game’s developer, Bit Reactor, has cast a shadow over this positive picture. According to sources, the studio furloughed a large portion of its employees approximately three weeks before the game’s release. One source claims this figure reached as high as 80 percent, while Bit Reactor has yet to make an official public statement on the matter.
Star Wars Zero Company Players Protest Bit Reactor’s Decision
The unpaid furlough decision is allegedly due to Bit Reactor’s dwindling financial resources. It is unknown when the employees will return to their duties or whether their situation has changed after the game’s release. The initial report states that the decision was made directly by Bit Reactor management, not by EA or Disney.
This situation has begun to be reflected in Steam reviews. While some players openly state that they liked Star Wars Zero Company very much, they are leaving negative reviews due to the developers’ situation. Some reviews even say the game is one of the most successful Star Wars titles in years, while harshly criticizing the management’s personnel policies.
There is also a different opinion within the community. Some players believe that support and purchases of the game are necessary for Bit Reactor to be able to rehire its employees. Others prefer to maintain their negative reviews until an explanation is given or the decision to furlough employees is reversed.
It is not yet confirmed whether Bit Reactor is truly in a financial situation where it cannot pay its employees’ salaries.
