Violent Night 2 Amplifies Christmas Chaos with its First Trailer
Violent Night 2, set to be released in 2022, is poised to amplify the chaotic atmosphere of the unexpectedly beloved first film. David Harbour’s tough and somewhat weary Santa Claus returns to face criminals, this time accompanied by Kristen Bell’s Mrs. Claus. The trailer suggests the sequel will offer not only bigger action but also new details about the pair’s past.
What Does the Violent Night 2 Trailer Show?
In the new story, Santa, after committing numerous violent acts, falls to the list of troublemakers and loses his magical powers. At this point, Jared Harris’s ruthless gangster targets the shopkeepers at the Silver Bell shopping mall. Without his powers, Santa will have to rely solely on his fighting skills, improvised weapons, and a bit of luck.
When things get really complicated, Mrs. Claus steps in. Director Tommy Wirkola says the character isn’t just a brief cameo; she plays a truly significant role in resolving the story. Kristen Bell’s character isn’t just someone supporting Santa; her fighting skills, past, and tough demeanor will directly contribute to the action side of the film.
The trailer also hints at the chemistry between David Harbour and Kristen Bell, suggesting they’ll carry the film’s humor. Their past friendship makes the married couple dynamic on screen more natural. We’ll see a Christmas couple bickering amongst themselves on one hand, and brutally beating up criminals on the other. Frankly, this might be the film’s most entertaining asset.
The film, written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, is directed by Tommy Wirkola, with David Leitch and Kelly McCormick serving as producers. Violent Night 2 will be released in theaters on December 4th. For those who enjoyed the hard-hitting action and dark humor of the first film, this Christmas looks set to be anything but peaceful.
