Wuchang Fallen Feathers Rights Transferred to Digital Bros.
The intellectual property rights of Wuchang Fallen Feathers have been acquired by Digital Bros., the parent company of 505 Games. The deal is reportedly worth approximately 32 million yuan, or €4 million and $4.7 million. With this sale, Digital Bros. will retain full ownership of the game’s future value and will be relieved of copyright obligations towards the developer.
The timing of this acquisition is also noteworthy. It was recently reported that Leenzee, the game’s developer, had disbanded. Wuchang Fallen Feathers was the studio’s first major project and also its most significant work. Therefore, the transfer of the IP rights to the parent company on the publishing side can be seen as a move that could prevent the game from being completely forgotten.
Sales figures also explain why Digital Bros. took this step. According to the information released, Wuchang Fallen Feathers had sold over 1 million copies and generated over $35 million in net revenue by the end of March. This shows that, despite mixed reviews, the game has performed strongly commercially.
The most intriguing question for players is whether this acquisition will mean new content or a sequel. Digital Bros. highlights the long-term potential of the IP but also states that a major impact is not expected in the short term. Therefore, expecting a new announcement anytime soon might not be realistic. Nevertheless, seeing that Wuchang Fallen Feathers hasn’t been completely shelved is a promising development for fans of the series.
