Dragon Age: The Veilguard Launches This Fall
The 10-year wait for Dragon Age 4 is finally over. Dragon Age: The Veilguard will officially launch in the fall of 2024. This exciting news was announced at the Xbox Games Showcase event with a trailer introducing the cast of companions, including familiar faces like Varric and Scout Harding. A full 15-minute gameplay demonstration will take place on June 11th.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Release Date and Details
Dragon Age: The Veilguard has had a long and turbulent run. Inquisition was released in 2014 and development of the sequel reportedly began in 2015. The game was officially announced in 2018 but without a subtitle. The name Dreadwolf appeared in 2022, but was officially changed to The Veilguard this month.
Later reports showed that the game’s development had been restarted multiple times, and even a few days ago BioWare confirmed that one of the canceled attempts included a big multiplayer focus. Now, however, The Veilguard offers “straight-up single-player story goodness”.
The RPG sequel was known to launch before April 2025, EA’s current fiscal year, but ‘fall 2024’ narrows that window considerably. Considering we’ve seen very little from the game up to this point, this date points to an earlier release than anyone expected. Gameplay footage leaked in 2023 showing similarities to God of War divided fans. But the official reveal on June 11th will give us a deeper look at what to expect.
