Marvel’s Venom Project May Have Been Quietly Canceled

Long-standing rumors about Marvel’s Venom have resurfaced with new statements. In particular, comments from Nadji Jeter suggest the project was indeed planned but may have been shelved due to an unexpected event. These claims have reopened the debate about a standalone game focusing on the Venom character after Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Why the Marvel’s Venom Project May Have Been Canceled

According to the claims, a Venom-centric game and additional content plan was indeed in development. However, the death of Tony Todd, the voice actor for Venom, in 2024 may have led to the cancellation of these plans. Jeter’s statements reveal that the project was quite advanced and that he was even shown what kind of experience it would offer players.

On the other hand, these statements haven’t been universally confirmed. Reliable industry figures like Jason Schreier are cautious about claims that the project has been completely canceled. Some developers even suggest the project hasn’t been entirely shelved and may still be under discussion, suggesting that the fate of the Venom game is not yet decided.

Previously revealed details about the project were quite remarkable. It was claimed that the game would focus on Eddie Brock, feature different versions like Anti-Venom, and progress independently from the main Spider-Man story. Structurally, it was planned to offer an experience similar to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, bridging the gap between two major games.

The only thing certain right now is that Insomniac Games has shifted its focus to the Marvel’s Wolverine project. Even if the Venom game has truly been canceled, given the character’s popularity, it wouldn’t be surprising if it were to resurface in the future.
